Riccardino sta per compiere diciotto anni nella casa famiglia in cui vive. Da quattro anni è stato separato dalla madre, una donna con forti disturbi di personalità. Nonostante la premurosa e attenta guida della sua educatrice, che desidera per lui un futuro al sicuro nella casa famiglia, Riccardino decide di scappare per raggiungere sua madre e vivere con lei. La sua illusione presto si trasformerà in un’amara realtà e Riccardino dovrà fare una scelta difficile.
Riccardino is about to turn eighteen in the group home where he lives. Four years ago, he was separated from his mother, a woman with severe personality disorders. Despite the caring and attentive guidance of his educator, who wishes for him a safe future in the group home, Riccardino decides to run away to find his mother and live with her. His illusion will soon turn into a bitter reality, and Riccardino will be forced to make a difficult choice.
Christian Filippi è nato a Roma il 30 Maggio 1992. Dopo aver completato gli studi in cinema e telvisione all’Istituto R. Rossellini si è laureato con lode in Cinema alla Rome University of Fine Arts (RUFA) con una tesi sulla relazione tra arte e periferie. Ha frequentato un Master in “Editoria, Giornalismo e Management culturale” all’Università La Sapienza di Roma. Ha lavorato come assistente casting e assistente alla regia molti anni e nelle redazioni di case editrici. Ha scritto e diretto tre cortometraggi ricevendo numerosi riconoscimenti. “Il Mio Compleanno”, suo primo lungometraggio, è stato presentato alla Mostra del Cinema di Venezia 2024.
Christian Filippi was born in Rome on May 30, 1992. After completing his studies in film and television at the R. Rossellini Institute, he graduated with honors in Cinema from the Rome University of Fine Arts (RUFA) with a thesis on the relationship between art and suburban areas. He attended a Master’s program in “Publishing, Journalism and Cultural Management” at La Sapienza University of Rome. He worked for many years as a casting assistant, assistant director, and in the editorial offices of publishing houses. He has written and directed three short films, receiving numerous awards. Il Mio Compleanno, his first feature film, was screened at the 2024 Venice Film Festival.

Leo, quindicenne, è cresciuta in Germania senza un padre.
Quando ne scopre l’identità, parte immediatamente per trovarlo. La sua ricerca la conduce a un chiosco sulla spiaggia, chiuso e sbarrato d’inverno, sul litorale italiano, dove incontra Paolo.
Paolo è sopraffatto ed in conflitto interiore. Fatica a bilanciare il rapporto con la sua nuova famiglia e l’arrivo improvviso di Leo. All’inizio Leo vuole solo delle risposte, ma presto desidera avere un posto nella sua vita. Senza soldi né un piano, decide di restare nel piccolo paese. Trascorrendo del tempo insieme, Leo e Paolo iniziano a legare, scoprendo di avere molto in comune.
Inevitabilmente, dovranno fare i conti con la realtà. Quando Paolo dà priorità alla figlia più piccola, Leo rimane ferita e arrabbiata. Le tensioni aumentano. Uno scontro mette a nudo il loro dolore, apparentemente distruggendo il fragile legame costruito. Nel mezzo del tumulto, padre e figlia iniziano a comprendere le proprie verità, facendo un passo piccolo ma significativo verso l’accettazione.

When she discovers his identity, she immediately sets out to find him. Her search leads her to a boarded-up beach bar on Italy’s wintry coast and she meets Paolo.
Paolo is overwhelmed and conflicted. He struggles to balance his relationship with his new family Leo’s sudden arrival. At first Leo just wants answers but soon longs for a place in his life. With no money or plan, she stays in the small town. As they spend time together, Leo and Paolo begin to bond, discovering that they have much in common.
Inevitably reality catches up with them. When Paolo prioritizes his younger daughter, Leo is left hurt and angry. Tensions rise. A confrontation lays their pain bare, seemingly shattering their fragile connection. Amid the turmoil, father and daughter begin to understand their truths, taking a small but meaningful step toward acceptance.
Alissa Jung ha scoperto la sua passione per il racconto fin da bambina, partecipando a radiodrammi e recitando a teatro.
A 16 anni è stata scoperta mentre recitava in una pièce teatrale e da allora ha costruito una carriera di attrice di successo. A metà dei suoi vent’anni ha iniziato a dirigere cortometraggi, documentari e spettacoli teatrali per ragazzi.
Dopo essersi presa del tempo per completare la laurea in medicina e lavorare come pediatra, è tornata nell’industria cinematografica nel 2020, conseguendo una laurea in sceneggiatura presso la Drehbuchwerkstatt di Monaco. Nel 2022 e 2023 ha diretto i cortometraggi The Wall Must Fall e Farah, e quest’ultimo ha vinto il Goldener Spatz Award 2024, assegnato dal Festival des deutschen Films für Kinder (German Children’s Film Festival). Paternal Leave segna il suo debutto nella regia di un lungometraggio.

Alissa Jung discovered her passion for storytelling as a child, participating in radio plays and acting in theatre. At the age of 16, she was discovered while acting in a theatre play and has since built a successful acting career. In her mid-20s, she began directing short films, documentaries, and youth theatre plays.
After taking time to complete her medical degree and work as a paediatrician, she returned to the film industry in 2020, earning a degree in screenwriting from the Drehbuchwerkstatt Munich. In 2022 and 2023, she directed the short films The Wall Must Fall and Farah, the latter of which won the 2024 Goldener Spatz Award, awarded by the Festival des deutschen Films für Kinder (German Children’s Film Festival). Nico, un bambino vivace, scontroso e impertinente, cresciuto in una famiglia laica, in un mondo moderno, tecnologico e iperconnesso, è costretto a passare l’estate in Sicilia, ospite di un’ anziana zia, signorina religiosissima e scorbutica che vive sola, in un antico palazzo pieno di leggende e superstizioni, senza wi-fi né elettrodomestici, senza nessun tipo di tecnologia, completamente fuori dal tempo.
La zia lo accoglie con fastidio, cerca di inserirlo con prepotenza nel suo mondo popolato da angeli e spiriti, dominato da un senso magico della religione.
Lo scontro tra modernità e passato, tra ragione e religione, tra velocità e lentezza, segna l’inizio del loro burrascoso rapporto. Eppure pian piano, nasce un legame profondo di cui entrambi non sapevano di avere bisogno.
Nico, a lively, irritable, and cheeky child raised in a secular family in a modern, technological, and hyper-connected world, is forced to spend the summer in Sicily with an elderly aunt — a very religious and bad-tempered woman who lives alone in an old house filled with legends and superstitions, without Wi-Fi or appliances, without any kind of technology, completely out of time.
The aunt welcomes him with annoyance and tries to forcefully pull him into her world, populated by angels and spirits and defined by a magical sense of religion.
The clash between modernity and the past, between reason and religion, between speed and slowness marks the beginning of their tumultuous relationship. Yet, little by little, a deep bond begins to grow — one neither of them knew they needed.
Margherita Spampinato è nata a Palermo. Si è laureata in Lettere e Filosofia all’Università La Sapienza di Roma. Ha iniziato a lavorare nel cinema a Parigi dove ha vissuto per alcuni anni. Tornata a Roma, ha lavorato come segretaria di edizione in oltre 30 film. E poi, per diversi anni, si è dedicata al lavoro del casting per film e serie. Come regista ha realizzato due cortometraggi “Tommasina” e “Segreti”. “Gioia Mia” è il suo primo lungometraggio.
Margherita Spampinato was born in Palermo. She graduated in Arts and Humanities from La Sapienza University of Rome. She began working in film in Paris, where she lived for several years. After returning to Rome, she worked as a script supervisor on more than 30 films. She then dedicated several years to casting for films and series. As a director, she made two short films, Tommasina and Segreti. Gioia Mia is her first feature film.

Da un anno Ciro si aggira per Napoli di notte, andando sempre a parare nel luogo dove sua moglie Flavia ha perso la vita in un incidente d’auto. Ciro va in giro a cercare l’auto rossa che ha buttato Flavia fuori strada, con il desiderio di punire i colpevoli della sua disperazione. In queste scorribande notturne lo accompagna il figlio Luigi, che si infila nella sua macchina a tradimento, e cerca di aiutarlo ad identificare l’auto rossa. Luigi non molla suo padre, gli sta attaccato come una tellina, e a casa la madre di Ciro aspetta in preda alla preoccupazione. Rosario, un amico di famiglia, offre a Ciro un lavoro come elettricista per aiutarlo a risollevarsi dal lutto subìto. Ma il fratello di Rosario, Carmine, ha un altro lutto da affrontare: il suocero ha tentato il suicidio per essere stato licenziato in tronco dalla fabbrica dove ha lavorato tutta la vita. Anche Carmine è rimasto per strada, e ora medita vendetta.
For a year now, Ciro has been wandering through Naples at night, always ending up in the place where his wife Flavia lost her life in a car accident. Ciro roams the city searching for the red car that forced Flavia off the road, driven by the need to punish those responsible for his despair.
On these nocturnal wanderings he is accompanied by his son Luigi, who sneaks into his car without warning and tries to help him identify the red car. Luigi never leaves his father’s side — he clings to him like a limpet — while at home Ciro’s mother waits, consumed by worry.
Rosario, a family friend, offers Ciro a job as an electrician to help him recover from the grief he has suffered. But Rosario’s brother, Carmine, has another tragedy to face: his father-in-law attempted suicide after being abruptly fired from the factory where he had worked his entire life. Carmine, too, has found himself out on the street, and now he is contemplating revenge.

scena dal 2007 al 2012. È autore di Quattro, scritto con Mario Gelardi,
vincitore dei premi “Girulà” e “Scenario”. Ha diretto nell’edizione 2010 del
“Napoli Teatro Festival Italia” lo spettacolo La Città di dentro, scritto con
Angelo Petrella. Ha scritto con Mario Gelardi, Santos, spettacolo tratto da un
racconto di Roberto Saviano. Ha diretto lo spettacolo 12 baci sulla bocca, che
dopo sei anni di repliche attualmente è ancora in programmazione. È tra gli
autori de La Ferita (Ad Est dell’Equatore, 2009) e de La Giusta Parte
(Caracò, 2011). Nel 2012 esce il suo primo romanzo L’ultima volta che mi
sono emozionato (Caracò, 2012). Ha scritto con Nicolai Lilin la trasposizione
teatrale di Educazione Siberiana. Spettacolo di cui è anche regista, prodotto
dal Teatro Stabile di Torino in collaborazione con ERT e Teatro Metastasio
Stabile della Toscana. Ha scritto e diretto l’ultimo lavoro della Compagnia
Nest, LOVE BOMBING, un testo che parla dell’attualissima minaccia dello
stato Islamico nei confronti dell’occidente.
“Nottefonda” è la sua prima regia per il cinema.
Author, playwright, and theatre director. He graduated from the Academy of
Dramatic Arts. He was one of the leading actors in the stage production
Gomorra, which ran from 2007 to 2012. He is the author of Quattro, written
with Mario Gelardi, winner of the “Girulà” and “Scenario” awards. In the 2010
edition of the Naples Theatre Festival Italy, he directed the play La Città di
dentro, written with Angelo Petrella. Together with Mario Gelardi, he wrote
Santos, a play based on a short story by Roberto Saviano. He directed the
play 12 baci sulla bocca, which, after six years of performances, is still being
staged.
He is among the authors of La Ferita (Ad Est dell’Equatore, 2009) and La
Giusta Parte (Caracò, 2011). In 2012 his first novel, L’ultima volta che mi
sono emozionato, was published by Caracò. He co-wrote with Nicolai Lilin the
theatrical adaptation of Educazione Siberiana, a production for which he also
served as director, produced by the Teatro Stabile di Torino in collaboration
with ERT and Teatro Metastasio Stabile della Toscana. He wrote and
directed the latest work of the Nest Company, LOVE BOMBING.
Nottefonda is his first film as movie director.

Irene vive la sua vita a Roma, quando sua madre le chiede di tornare per qualche giorno a Rimini, la città dove è nata e dalla quale è fuggita, per prendersi cura del fratello maggiore autistico, Omar. Una volta insieme, Irene scopre che Omar ha le idee chiarissime sul suo futuro: non ha nessuna intenzione di vivere con lei quando i loro genitori non ci saranno più ed è pronto a tutto per realizzare i sogni della sua vita: vuole sposarsi, vuole fare tre figli perché 3 è il numero perfetto e vuole diventare un cantante rap famoso.
Ma perché tutte queste cose accadano, Omar deve prima di tutto diventare autonomo.
Con Irene inizia così un tenero e toccante corso intensivo per diventare “adulto”.
Nella loro casa piena di ricordi, Irene e Omar affrontano insieme paure e speranze e scoprono che per crescere, a volte, bisogna essere in due.
Irene is living her life in Rome when her mother asks her to return for a few days to Rimini, the city where she was born and from which she fled, to take care of her older autistic brother, Omar. Once they are together, Irene discovers that Omar has very clear ideas about his future: he has no intention of living with her when their parents are no longer around, and he is ready to do whatever it takes to fulfill his life dreams — he wants to get married, he wants to have three children because 3 is the perfect number, and he wants to become a famous rap singer.
But for all of this to happen, Omar must first become independent.
With Irene, he begins a tender and moving crash course in “becoming an adult.”
In their home filled with memories, Irene and Omar face fears and hopes together and discover that sometimes, to grow, you need to be two.
Yuri Tuci è un attore, nato a Prato, il 23 novembre 1983. Appassionato di teatro e di cinema, si avvicina alla settima arte anche per abbattere i pregiudizi su di lui, in quanto persona autistica. La sua carriera inizia nel 2018 a teatro, quando interpreta lo spettacolo autobiografico Out – is Me – unAnormalestoriAtipica. Il monologo riscuote successo e interesse e viene portato in tournée in diversi teatri d’Italia, oltre a partecipare al Torino Fringe Festival.
Nel 2025 è entrato nel cast del film La Vita da grandi, che segna il debutto alla regia di Greta Scarano. Nella pellicola interpreta Omar Nanni, un ragazzo autistico determinato a dimostrare di saper essere indipendente e a realizzare il suo sogno di diventare un cantante rap. Oltre a lavorare come attore, Yuri Tuci è stato anche un aiuto bidello in liceo di Prato. Tra i suoi interessi ci sono la musica (soprattutto la musica rap), i videogiochi e i viaggi.
Yuri Tuci is an actor, born in Prato on November 23, 1983. Passionate about theatre and cinema, he approached the seventh art also as a way to challenge the prejudices directed at him as an autistic person. His career began in 2018 in theatre, when he performed the autobiographical show Out – is Me – unAnormalestoriAtipica. The monologue received interest and acclaim and toured various theatres across Italy, as well as being presented at the Torino Fringe Festival.
In 2025 he joined the cast of the film La Vita da grandi, marking the directorial debut of Greta Scarano. In the film, he plays Omar Nanni, an autistic young man determined to prove he can be independent and to pursue his dream of becoming a rap singer.
In addition to his work as an actor, Yuri Tuci has also worked as an assistant janitor at a high school in Prato. His interests include music (especially rap), video games, and travel.
