Teresa Juksaar è una giovane regista di Tallinn, Estonia. Nel 2017 si è iscritta alla Sarajevo Film Academy e ha poi proseguito gli studi alla Baltic Film, Media and Arts School (BFM), laureandosi nel 2022 in regia cinematografica. Il suo film studentesco, The King, ha vinto la competizione nazionale ai PÖFF Shorts (2021) e all’Oslo Film Festival (2021).
Teresa trae ispirazione creativa dalle assurdità della vita quotidiana. La sua più grande fonte di ispirazione è sua nonna, che credeva che la capacità di trovare l’umorismo in ogni tipo di momento fosse la chiave per superare le sfide della vita.
Teresa Juksaar is a young film director from Tallinn, Estonia. In 2017, she enrolled at the Sarajevo Film Academy and later continued her studies at the Baltic Film, Media and Arts School (BFM), graduating in 2022 with a degree in film directing. Her student film, The King, won the national competition at PÖFF Shorts (2021) and the Oslo Film Festival (2021). Teresa draws creative inspiration from the absurdities of everyday life. Her biggest inspiration is her grandmother, who believed that the ability to find humor in all kind of moments is key to surviving life’s challenges.

Dopo un’esplosione, un’anziana donna si ritrova nella bottega di un calzolaio. Inizia così un viaggio attraverso un labirinto di piani, vivendo simultaneamente nel qui e ora e nel passato impolverato. Nel suo percorso verso l’infanzia, incontra la sé stessa bambina e attraversa le stanze del proprio viale dei ricordi.
Da bambina aveva inghiottito una chiave che apriva la porta a un labirinto infinito di passaggi. Una volta intrappolata in una stanza del passato, deve compiere un rituale alimentare equivalente per innescare uno spostamento temporale e proseguire il suo viaggio tra lunghi corridoi e altre stanze.
Tornata nell’infanzia, la donna tenta di nuovo di farsi strada mangiando attraverso il tempo, ma l’inesorabile ritmo della macchina della vita continua a scandire il suo ticchettio.
After an explosion, an elderly woman finds herself in a shoemaker’s workshop. She embarks on a journey through a labyrinth of floors, living simultaneously in the here and now and in the dusty past. On her journey to her childhood, she meets her past self and passes through rooms of her memory lane.
As a young girl, she swallowed a key that opened a door to an endless maze of passageways. Once trapped in a room of the past, she must perform an equivalent eating ritual to trigger a time shift and continue her journey through long corridors and more rooms.
Back in childhood, the woman tries to eat her way through time again, but the inexorable rhythm of the machinery of life keeps on ticking.
La regista e artista Mari Kivi è nata il 17 ottobre 1984. Nel 2010 si è diplomata in pittura presso la Pallas University of Applied Sciences di Tartu e nel 2018 si è laureata (BA, cum laude) nel Dipartimento di Animazione della Estonian Academy of Arts.
Dal 2017 al 2021, Mari ha lavorato nel Dipartimento di Animazione della Estonian Academy of Arts. Dal 2019 al 2021 è stata membro del consiglio della Estonian Animation Association.
Nel 2021 ha fondato il festival internazionale di animazione Animist Tallinn.
Attualmente lavora come animatrice e artista presso la casa editrice Avita.
Nel 2025, il suo film in puppetry Eating Time è stato prodotto presso i Nukufilm Studio.
Director and artist Mari Kivi was born on 17 October 1984. In 2010 she graduated from Pallas University of Applied Sciences in Tartu with a degree in painting and in 2018 she graduated from the Department of Animation at the Estonian Academy of Arts (BA, cum laude).
From 2017 to 2021, Mari worked in the Department of Animation of the Estonian Academy of Arts. From 2019 to 2021, she was a member of the board of the Estonain Animation Association,
In 2021, she founded the international animation festival Animist Tallinn.
She currently works as an animator and artist at the publishing house Avita.
In 2025, Mari’s puppet film ‘Eating Time’ was produced in Nukufilm Studio.

What Stiina doesn’t know is that Emma has a friend that keeps her company and comforts her when bad things happen. Anna Hints è una regista estone con un background nelle arti contemporanee e nella musica folk. Il suo documentario d’esordio Smoke Sauna Sisterhood ha vinto il Directing Award al Sundance Film Festival e l’European Film Award come Miglior Documentario nel 2023. È stato selezionato come candidato estone agli Oscar per la 96ª edizione, venduto in 33 territori e nominato a numerosi premi, vincendone finora 32. Anna fa parte del gruppo musicale EETER, che ha collaborato con il compositore Eðvarð Egilsson per Smoke Sauna Sisterhood.
Tushar Prakash, nato a Nuova Delhi e diplomato alla Scuola Nazionale di Cinema di Łódź in Polonia. Anna Hints is an Estonian film director with a background in contemporary art and folk music. It was the Estonian National Entry at 96th Academy Awards, has been sold to 33 territories and nominated to numerous awards winning so far 32. Three teenagers meet at the seaside. They begin to seduce each other, challenge each other, submit to each other, and obey each other. This playful and carefree provocation leads to humiliation, and the inexperienced young people are dominated by their own instincts, beyond their control. No one is brave enough to set limits and put an end to this vicious circle. Who is the victim? Who is the culprit?
Madli Lääne è una sceneggiatrice, regista e montatrice estone. Consegue un master in Produzione Cinematografica e dei Media presso l’Università del Texas ad Austin. I suoi lavori vengono proiettati e premiati in vari festival, come il Busan ISFF, il Leeds IFF, l’Uppsala SFF e l’IN THE PALACE ISFF. Il suo cortometraggio “Dear Passengers” (2022) viene presentato in anteprima al Palm Springs SF e vince il premio come Miglior Cortometraggio agli Estonian Film & TV Awards. Il cortometraggio di formazione “Jungle Law” debutta all’Odense IFF, dove riceve l’Artist Award e si aggiudica il premio come Miglior Cortometraggio ad Alice nella Città, sezione parallela del Rome Film Fest. “Jungle Law” ottiene anche il Cultural Endowment of Estonia’s Annual Culture Prize come Miglior Cortometraggio ed è attualmente candidato all’Estonian Film & TV Award.
Madli Lääne is an Estonian screenwriter, director, and editor. She holds an MFA in Film and Media Production from the University of Texas at Austin. Her works have screened and won awards at numerous festivals, including Busan ISFF, Leeds IFF, Uppsala SFF, and IN THE PALACE ISFF. Her short film Dear Passengers (2022) premiered at Palm Springs ShortFest and won Best Short Film at the Estonian Film & TV Awards.
Her coming-of-age short Jungle Law debuted at the Odense IFF, where it received the Artist Award and later won Best Short Film at Alice nella Città, the parallel section of the Rome Film Fest. Jungle Law also received the Cultural Endowment of Estonia’s Annual Culture Prize for Best Short Film and is currently nominated for the Estonian Film & TV Award.

The Estonian city of Pechory (Petseri) and its inhabitants are portrayed through the story of the director’s great-grandmother, who was forced to hide her newborn son in the box of her sewing machine in order to flee the Ukrainian War of Independence and return to Pechory.
Ha studiato animazione presso l’Accademia delle Arti di Turku in Finlandia e, dal 1996, ha diretto numerosi film d’animazione pluripremiati. Ha pubblicato articoli sul cinema e scritto libri di narrativa per bambini e adulti. Nel 2005 si è specializzanto in diritti dei media e d’autore. Pikkov è autore di “Animasophy” e “Theoretical Writings on the Animated Film” (2011). Nel 2018 ha conseguito il dottorato all’Accademia d’Arte Estone con una tesi intitolata “Anti-Animation: Textures of Eastern European Animated Film” e oggi lavora come professore di animazione presso la stessa istituzione.

He has published film articles and written fiction for both children and adults. In 2005, he specialized in media and copyright law. In 2018, he earned his PhD from the Estonian Academy of Arts with a dissertation titled Anti-Animation: Textures of Eastern European Animated Film, and he now works as a professor of animation at the same institution.
